Happy Mother's Day!

I am so grateful this Mother's Day because I am blessed with two beautiful, loving children. They light up my world in ways I never imagined, and I thank God for them. What a gift, to parent such precious, little people! It is a gift I certainly did not earn, but I am thankful to have been given the charge of mothering my sweet babies.

I love them with all my heart.

Juliet is a ticklish, little thing. Here she is before bed this evening:


She's getting more hair - can't say she's bald anymore! - and she's starting to make a lot of different babbling sounds. We're hearing lots of blehblehBLEH and NEHneh and DUH. It's hilarious. She has lots to "say."

Juliet is 6 months old!

It's hard to believe our little girl is 6 months old. The time is FLYING. Back when I was pregnant with her, I couldn't imagine how I could possibly love another child as much as Scott. But I've found I have plenty of love to go around, and I'm so crazy about that baby, I can hardly stand it.

Juliet is getting so close to crawling! If she wants something bad enough, she'll scoot/roll to get to it. She grabs at absolutely everything, and of course, it all goes straight to the mouth. Her favorite items to grab include my hair (ouch!), Scott's hair (ouch!) and my cup of coffee (ouch!).

We have her 6-month well baby visit next week, and it will be interesting to see how she has grown.

I propped her up in the corner of the chair the other evening before bed, and Travis was cracking up at her "Sears Portrait Studio" pose. I think she looks like George Costanza.

We visited Travis's parents this past Sunday, and Scott had so much fun, he wore himself out. Here's proof - the little guy taking a nap with his Grampa out on the back porch:

We love to jump!

Juliet is loving her Jumperoo these days. But she'll only jump when people are watching and cheering her on. What fun is jumping if nobody is paying attention and commenting on how cute you are?



We think she's pretty adorable, even if she is a toothless baldie.

Some pictures and a small update...

The weather has been beautiful lately, so we've been hanging out outside, taking walks in the double stroller and blowing bubbles in the yard. Scott has been practicing his walking, and he's improving all the time. Juliet is working on trying to crawl, and she is forever scooting herself backward under the couch and getting stuck there.

We went over to my parents' house Sunday to celebrate my dad's birthday. Scott had a great time playing with Puppy and walking all over the house. My mom has large, carpeted rooms - great for walking without worry of busting one's head open.

Scott had such a fun day, he played himself into a sweaty, exhausted mess. He perked up for bath time, though, especially since Baby Sister joined him. The kid loves taking a bath with Juliet, but I'm not sure how much Juliet enjoys it, seeing as Scott refuses to allow her to play with any toys, and he splashes water on her the entire time they're in the tub.

Juliet says, I'm not so sure about this guy.

Our friend Emily came to visit from Dallas last week, and we took her out for beignets at Cafe du Monde. Not the real Cafe du Monde in the French Quarter, but the new one here in Mandeville. It doesn't have quite the same atmosphere, but the beignets and cafe au lait are just as good! Juliet wasn't allowed to try either, much to her dismay. Can you believe how big she's getting? Sitting up in a high chair like such a big girl! She's almost 6 months old, so we'll be starting her on solid food pretty soon.


And remember how I said forever ago I would snap some pictures of Juliet in her Easter outfit? Since I neglected to take any of her on Easter Sunday and all (bad mom!). Well, a month after the fact, I finally did.

Easter and updates

I'm sorry for being such a slacker about updating our blog. Life has been crazy lately! Travis had a wretched case of bronchitis last week, which meant I was on my own with the kids. Fun times. Thankfully, we all survived, and everyone appears to be healthy right now. Here's hoping it lasts.

Juliet turned 5 months old Monday, and she is doing more and more every day. She gets up on her hands and knees and rocks back and forth like she's trying to go somewhere, so I'm wondering if crawling will come soon. She blows raspberries, makes some consonant sounds, stands when holding our hands, reaches for toys, and puts everything into her mouth. She always has a smile for her brother, and she's very ticklish. She really is a happy, little baby.

Juliet received her second round of vaccinations yesterday, so she's been a little bit fussy since then.

Scott has finally kicked the ear infection that has been plaguing him, but I think we're still going to visit with an ENT to discuss his drooling. Scott is quite a drooler, which is normal for a kid with low muscle tone. But his drooling is pretty excessive, even for his low tone. It's not unusual for us to go through three or four bibs in an hour, and I always have at least four bibs packed in our diaper bag for outings. He also snores at night, so I'm wondering if maybe he has enlarged adenoids....? Anyway, it will be interesting to talk to an ENT about it and get a professional opinion.

Scott is taking more unassisted steps around the house, and he really seems to enjoy doing it. He has to be prompted to take steps and needs a little help to get his balance before he can get moving, but he's getting steadier every day.

Life is good, if not very exciting, and we're enjoying the kids. They really are a ton of fun. Anyway, here's what you really wanted - pictures!

I have no pictures of Juliet on Easter because I am the Worst Mother Ever. I keep meaning to put her back in her Easter outfit and snap her picture with her basket, but I haven't done it yet. Soon, I promise. Oh! But I do have this - a funny little video I shot of her last night. I was trying to get some footage of her getting on her hands and knees, and she was kind of grumpy about it. She was tired and fussy from her shots, and she kept making the funniest faces. Silly girl.
