Gustav!

Well, it looks like a hurricane is headed our way. Just thought I'd swing by and update quickly - we'll be evacuating to Florida with the kids and the cats some time in the next 12 hours. We'll stay in Pensacola at Caryn's for one night, and then we'll head south of Tallahassee, where my dad has rented a beach house for a few days.

Yay, hurrication!

Okay, maybe not YAY, but I'm trying to look on the bright side here. One can't complain too much about a few days in a lovely beach house, right?

Here's hoping the storm doesn't slam us as badly as we're all fearing. I'll update when I can.

Addendum to my last post - videos!

Thought I'd drop off a couple videos we took of the kids while in Fort Worth. Here's Scott, jumping into the pool at my aunt and uncle's house. I'm not exaggerating when I say he absolutely LOVED the water - the kid couldn't get enough of it! We'll definitely have to get him into swim classes next year.

And here's one of Juliet after a long day in the pool at Grandma Sue and Granddaddy's house. She was so exhausted and kind of fried, but it made for amusing video fodder.

Okay, now I'm off to bed.

Well, hello!

Looks like I win the gold medal for Laziest Blogger Ever. We've had a super busy past couple of months, with trips to visit family and friends, and lots of fun here at home. It doesn't seem like we've had much free time at all! But that's not the reason I haven't updated - honestly, I'm just lame and have put it off. I'll try to do better.

So anyway. Scott was supposed to have his adenoids removed and tubes put in his ears last month, but yeah, that didn't happen. We decided to indefinitely postpone the surgery, as he's been so healthy lately and hasn't had any infections to speak of (knock on wood). Here's hoping our little guy stays ear infection-free.

Scott has been taking Robinul to help decrease his drooling, and it's working okay. We saw a lot of improvement at first, but the effectiveness seems to have diminished over the past few weeks. It is helping some, though, and Scott is at least able to go a few hours in one bib without a change. Before, we were changing his bib several times an hour.

Juliet turned 9 months old a few weeks ago, and she is a mover and a shaker! Girlfriend can crawl like a banshee, and nothing in this house is safe from her. She especially loves terrorizing the cats and eating their food. I have to pull her out of Tad Smith's food bowl several times a day - here's to hoping cat food isn't too bad for babies.

Juliet is also clapping and cheering (she started clapping and shouting "yaaaaayyy!!" while watching Dr. Phil with me yesterday), saying "uh-oh!" and eating everything in sight. Favorite foods include guacamole, salmon and asparagus. Don't even try to feed her a jar of baby food - she has no interest in anything remotely appropriate for babies. She also loves picking up random items from the floor and handing them to people, or trying to shove them into our mouths. Attempting to shove her pacifier into other people's mouths is also a super fun game.

Scott is a full-time walker now! It's so crazy to see him walking all over the house. I'm still not used to it, but I love it! He is unable to stand up independently from the floor - he has to crawl over to a piece of furniture to pull up - but he's working on it and getting stronger every day. His balance has improved greatly, and I don't worry as much about him falling and busting his head. He is so proud of himself and his new skill, and so are we.

Now, on to the interesting stuff - pictures!

Travis's parents bought the kids a great blow-up pool for our backyard. It's big enough for Travis and me to sit in with the kids (with margaritas, of course!). Scott and Juliet love it.

Our Visit to Texas
First stop - the Fort Worth Children's Museum! Scott had a great time, but he wasn't too interested in the toys or activities or really anything the museum had to offer. What he wanted to do was walk in circles around the information desk and the lobby the whole time. Yeah, fun, right? I'm so glad we paid the money to go to the Children's Museum. Next time, we'll save our money and go to the fabric store instead.

Here's Scott, thoroughly enjoying all the Children's Museum lobby had to offer. It doesn't get more exciting than this.

Juliet, on the other hand, was fascinated by the plastic food in the play grocery area of the museum.

My mom finally enticed Scott into the museum by encouraging him to push the buttons on the play ATM machine. The kid is such a sucker for buttons.

Juliet thinks the Children's Museum is super fun. Scott is planning his escape back to the lobby for more picketing.

Next, Angie in Weatherford! Angie is one of my bestest friends and was my roommate in college. She's a kindergarten teacher in North Carolina, but she was home for the summer teaching swim lessons at her mom's house. She got Scott into the pool, and he had a great time with her.

Here, she's encouraging Scott to kick at the waterfall. He is such a little fish!

Mom and Juliet had a fun time watching.

Now, on to Joshua - I was so excited we got to see Meemaw, my grandmother - it was her first time meeting Juliet. Can you believe she's a great-grandma? I know, she totally doesn't look like one.

Then, Arlington! We had a barbecue and enjoyed swimming at my aunt and uncle's house (Allyson and Shaw). Here's Scott goofing off in the water with his great uncle Shaw.

A very, very sleepy Juliet with Shaw.

Uh, there were other people there besides Shaw (my aunt, cousins, mom, grandparents, etc.), but I guess I didn't take any pictures of them? Whatever, Shaw is plenty photogenic, so he'll have to do.

I'm so mad at myself for not taking any pictures of Scott and Juliet with my other grandparents, Grandma Sue and Granddaddy. The kids had such a great time singing at the piano and swimming with Grandma Sue, and Granddaddy was a big hit, too. Argh - I'm terrible about taking photographs. My mom has some on her camera, so I'll have to swipe them and post them later.

Now....On to Florida!
Caryn and I are determined to see each other as often as possible while she's living just three hours away, so I headed out to Florida a few weekends ago with the kids. We all had a great time, even if we were exhausted when all was said and done. Four kids in one house will do that to you.

Here, Brinlee and Allison attempt to style Scott's hair. Poor Scott - all of his friends are girls.

Um, what are y'all doing to me?

Scott has finally had enough.

That's all the update I have the stamina for tonight. I'll try to be more regular about posting now that the summer is over and things have slowed down.
