A couple of Juliet videos

Juliet loves the cats. They don't especially love her.

Here's my silly girl waking up from her nap:

Hurrication, Scott's first day of school, etc.

Well, we didn't blow away or drown in Gustav, although my lack of blogging might have indicated otherwise. Our house was fine - just a lot of tree limbs and debris in the yard. We ended up evacuating to Pensacola, where we stayed with Caryn two nights. We then drove down to Alligator Point, outside Tallahassee, where my parents had rented a beach house for the week. It was a nice, little "hurrication."

The kids had a blast at the beach - especially Scott. He loved the water. Alligator Point beaches are very natural and ungroomed, so they're not the best for playing or laying out or swimming, even. The water is pretty brown from the tannins in the pine straw that make their way in. But Scott didn't seem to mind, and we had to drag him away from the water, kicking and fussing.

Here he is, checking things out:

Wheeeee!

Going back for more:

Juliet, not so much a fan of the beach. She didn't like the sand.

Puppy, my parents' dog, loved it.

Because the beach is so natural, there aren't many people out there at all. It's a great vacation if you're looking for quiet and seclusion. We were secluded, but there wasn't a whole lot of quiet going on with the kids in the house. Scott had a great time stomping around on the deck and checking out the view of the Gulf:

My dad worked on recruiting Juliet for the Green Wave:

She is always making the silliest faces. I tried to capture one while she was in the bath, but I never was fast enough to get it:

Bathing beauty:

Scott started "school" the week after we returned from Florida. He goes to Mother's Day Out at our church on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 9-1. It's been an adjustment, but he really seems to be enjoying it, and I think it will be great for him. He cries for a few minutes when I drop him off, but he warms up quickly to his teachers and the other kids in his class.

Here he is on his first day:

Scott's occupational therapist stops by on Tuesdays and helps him with his lunch, and his physical therapist visits him at school once per week and plays with him on the playground. He loves them.

In Juliet news, she is getting to be such a monkey! She is starting to stand alone, and she's even taken a step or two on occasion. Nothing is safe around this child - she is fast, and she's determined. Travis and I are forever fishing random objects out of her mouth and pulling her out from under furniture. Here she is, climbing in the barstools:

Last weekend, Travis and I attended his 20 year (!!!) high school reunion in Long Beach. Travis's parents kept the kids, and we had a great night out.

Nana and Juliet at Cracker Barrel:

I'll try to be better about updating - seems like I'm always saying that, doesn't it? Life has just been so busy lately!
